Meet The Team

Meet our Chiropractic Kinesiologists

Dr Kristy Watton

BChiro., M.N.Z.C.A.

Dr Kristy Watton, a graduate of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, developed a passion for chiropractic later on in life following a back injury whilst playing squash.

She was a child who experienced ongoing lower back pain and daily headaches for upwards of 10 years. It wasn’t until she saw a chiropractor for the first time that she received relief from these ongoing problems. After just two visits she was not only headache free but a new person! With additional Applied Kinesiology support and nutritional help, more of her childhood ailments completely resolved and she reached a greater level of overall health.

With a passion for continual growth and learning Kristy has gained a great understanding of what the body requires to achieve balance. This includes nourishing the body, mind and spirit along with supporting the body nutritionally to reach your true potential. Kristy will help you to achieve your health goals using a range of different techniques, including Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Bach Flower remedies, Neuro Emotional Technique, nutritional supplements and dietary recommendations.

She has a huge passion for children and family chiropractic and believes everyone can benefit from gentle, specific chiropractic care. Her values sit heavily with family and friends, and much of her time outside of The Healing room is spent cherishing this time. Having grown up in Whangamata, her passions lie near the beach and being outdoors, which has made her the grounded, easy-going person that she is.

“My aim is to help you reach your true potential. I will endeavour to support you on your journey no matter what that may involve.”

Dr Alison Parkes (Allie)

BBioMedSci., BChiro., I.C.A.K.A., M.N.Z.C.A

Dr Ally, a graduate of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, has been presented with many obstacles in health; from asthma, eczema & allergies throughout her childhood, to concussions in sport, and an autoimmune reaction to nearly every food upon moving to Australia. She has appreciated these hurdles as they have created greater understanding of the body’s relationship to food, nature, sleep, stress and the environment we surround ourselves with daily.

Ally’s younger years were spent on the family horticulture farm. With nature so close to her on a daily basis she developed a love for the outdoors and competitive sports.

Her background in health started in childhood making weird, wild and wonderful concoctions from the plants and flowers in the forest. It wasn’t until completing her premedical degree in Functional Biology at Otago University that her appreciation for using functional ancient forms of medicine (herbs, plants, flowers & wholefoods) to heal the body became her major focus. This led her to the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, with continual studies in Applied Kinesiology & Nutrition.

She is passionate about helping chronically unwell individuals to navigate the often windy road to recovery, as well as supporting athletes to achieve peak performance and longevity in their chosen sport.

Ally loves living in Tauranga and is embracing all the abundant outdoor activities from surfing and paddle boarding to native forest walks. She looks forward to being a part of your journey in health, fitness, longevity and happiness.

Meet our Practice Manager

Lynn Ross

Lynn has a long history of enjoying a natural approach to her health and well being. She grew up in Canada in a farming community and started having chiropractic care at the age of fourteen. Later she met the man of her dreams who just happens to be a chiropractor and together they took over a long standing practice in Victoria, British Columbia, had two sons, and enjoyed the west coast life of sailing and the great outdoors.

In 2000 they sailed away from Canada on the adventure of a lifetime. They spent time sailing around Mexico, crossed the Pacific Ocean, and then cruised around French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga.

Cyclone season brought them to New Zealand and lifestyle plus a desire for new opportunities saw them settle here at the end of 2001. Their boys are now men and firmly settled into the New Zealand lifestyle. Lynn and her husband have continued their paths in the chiropractic community and love being here.

Lynn has always been a great fan of The Healing Room and started care with Jolanta many years ago. She believes the multi-dimensional approach of The Healing Room team is so important to unlocking your true potential as we are all unique in who we are and what it takes to make and keep us vibrant and well. Lynn loves being a part of an environment that promotes true wellness and hopes that we can help you on your journey to a better YOU!

Meet Our Communications Co-ordinator

Debbie Turbitt

Debbie has always had an interest in health and wellness, but this turned into a passion once she became a mum.

The year leading up to her son’s birth was the hardest of her life as she nursed her father and watched cancer and diabetes rob him of his life.

Debbie realised more than ever in those months how precious our health is, and how important it is to eat well, exercise, try to avoid toxins in our lives and most of all...be happy and fulfilled! She believes we have a responsibility to do that for our kids not only to give them the best chance at a long, healthy and full life, but to do it for ourselves too - so that we can be the best version of ourselves for the people around us.

Once the time came to venture back into the workforce after being a full-time mum, Debbie decided to use her marketing and communications skills to help businesses that are doing amazing things in the world - helping people live happier, healthier lives.

She’s over the moon to be part of The Healing Room team, not only because the whole team are beautiful, wonderful, incredible, inspiring people but because she believes wholeheartedly in what they do! She loves hearing the stories from patients of how much The Healing Room has changed their lives, and she loves being a part of that change.

Debbie’s mission is to help The Healing Room reach even more people so that we can bring health and education to our whole community. We only have this one life and she believes we should make it the best version we can!

Meet our Team Leader

Dr Jolanta Williams (Jo)

BChiro., I.C.A.K.A., M.N.Z.C.A.

Chiropractic has always been a big part of Jolanta's life. Since she was nine years old she has been getting checked by a Chiropractor who specialises in Applied Kinesiology.

With a rough and fast introduction to this world, Jolanta was a colicky baby, progressing into burst eardrums and night terrors. She then became a child with headaches, abdominal cramps, low back pain, recurrent illnesses ... all problems a young child shouldn't have to experience.

After one session at her local chiropractor, she never experienced her daily, debilitating abdominal cramps again. Her head was clear, her spine felt free, and she knew she was different. It is no surprise that this nine year old, who had been in and out of medical specialists offices the past few years, walked out of her chiropractor's office knowing that chiropractic was going to be her future.

Jolanta graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 2005 and has not stopped learning since. She has since become certified in Applied Kinesiology and also completed seminars in neuro emotive technique (NET), nutrition, Bach flower remedies and various structural chiropractic techniques including cranial release techniques and Retained Primitive Reflexes.

Jolanta is passionate about what she does. She lives the lessons she teaches and is always her own first guinea pig to prove that something really works! She believes that life is about balance. A balance of stress, fun, relaxation and love. A balance of body, mind, spirit and nutrition.

Our job at The Healing Room is to direct the body in removing any interference to this balance. Our bodies are complex but fascinating. It is always a pleasure and an honour to work alongside each and every one of them.
